About Me

I have an eating disorder. Which one, you may ask? Well, all of them. . . . . on different days of the week. . . . . My eating disorder behaviors are wildly erratic, and can swing from severe anorexia to wildly-out-of-control episodes of binge eating. Notice that I didn’t say, “I am anorexic” or “I am bulimic” . I struggle with a disease, but it does not define me. I HAVE an eating disorder. . . . I am NOT my eating disorder. There is so much more to my identity.

The emotions, rituals, and behaviors of an eating disorder can be terror-invoking, mystifying, and anger-inducing for those who don’t understand. I don’t claim to have all the answers. . . . . . . but I do have the experience. Not only do I have an eating disorder myself, I’ve got a good bit of real-world experience.

On March 19th, 2010, I officially started my journey of recovery, even though I’d been “in recovery” for awhile before coming out to Nouveau Vie, the treatment center. Located in Nevada, they specialize in individualized plans and long-term success.
